Intent to Support SB 840
As of this date, October 10th, 2007 Insurance Tease has expressed the intention to provide a portion of the proceeds ($1 for every item sold) acquired from the sale of products on the Insurance Tease web site to promote and support Senate Bill 840 (AKA, SB 840) the passage of which will form a Single Payer, Universal Health Care system in the state of California.
Current language in SB-840 includes the following,
from page 2 paragraph 1:
This bill would establish the California Healthcare System to be
administered by the newly created California Healthcare Agency under
the control of a Healthcare Commissioner appointed by the Governor
and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

If in the course of the legislative process amendments to SB 840 should alter the intended goal of the bill in such a way as to create, in effect, a completely new document that the owners of the Insurance Tease web site do not agree with, then any financial support, implied or promised, would not be forthcoming.
Specifically, Insurance Tease will not provide funding in support of SB 840 should SB 840 be reworded, or re-phrased in such a way that would provide a mandate for the inclusion of For-Profit-Health-Insurance-Providers, or Existing Health Maintenance Organizations in a Universal Health Care system for California.
Tax Status
The vary nature of the Insurance Tease business is obvious. It is our intent and desire to sway public opinion about a political issue. While some might argue that we are simply informing people of the facts (in a humorous manner) as they relate to a proposed bill, (specifically SB 840), we have no such confusion about why we exist. If we were just an informative body, disseminating unbiased information, then we could qualify as a non-profit organization. Sadly this is not the case; we are very biased. When such an organization chooses to make it their business to take sides in a debate, the law states that the organization cannot qualify as a non-profit.
That said, we will donate $1 for every item sold to www.HealthCareforAll.org
What this Means for our Customers
People who purchase Insurance Tease products do so because they support SB 840 and wish to show that support through the display of our pithy products, not because of any tax benefit that they expect to receive. At this time there is no tax benefit to the customers of Insurance Tease. The only tax benefit to be had will be by Insurance Tease itself, when we claim a deduction for donating to www.HealthCareforAll.org
